This is a new release of MacLibrarian which replaces version 1.5.5. Version 1.6.0 fixes some reported bugs and has had some features added. The manual (72 pages) for version 1.5. is available from the same place you got MacLibrarian ( AOL or Compuserve). The Addendum to version 1.5 should be part of this archive.
If you would like a printed manual (100 pages 9*7 page size) then send a cheque for US $15.00 to cover printing and handling charges. This is what it costs me. This service is available to registered users only.
Note: A personnel cheque is acceptable from Canada, US,UK, Europe, Japan, Australia. You can use your local currency and take into account the conversion rate to US dollars.
If you need a disk or printed manual service then please use the form below. This will speed things up.
The Label Templates are provided as is, use it at your own risk.
Before wasting any labels make sure that the template is suitable by testing on plain paper.
Special Notes on ImageWriter Templates:
According to Apple the ImageWriter Parks the paper with the top edge at the pinch-rollers. This makes it easy for you to rip off the printed pages. When you start a print job it rolls the paper backwards half an inch of the total inch. You will notice the IMWR templates for continues labels have the top margin set at 0.25 inch. In my tests I found that a form feed to the next page would occur if you select the first print position. This is not a BUG but a limitation of the printer and the type of labels being used( This cost me 3 weeks of test time! ). The testing was done with an Epson printer with a Grappler Adapter. You may not see the same problem as I did. If you do then to minimize wasted labels select the second label print position and you will not see this problem.
Templates:
If you feel that other users can benefit from the templates you develop. Then please send me a copy and I will include it in the next release (if suitable). In addition you need to provide the following information:
- Added the ability to register users with a code instead of updating by mail.
- Moved the "MacLibrarian, Epsilon System: 613 591...." advert to the top of the label and is printed upside down ( ie. its on the backside of the label now ).
- Fixed error to report error when your hard disk is full.
Version 1.5.5
- low memory situations when scanning is now recovered without a crash.
- low memory situations are now checked before doing memory intensive operations. If MacLibrarian is low on memory then you will be warned and asked to save your data. You will not be able to print, export your data or create labels
- Fixed problem with labels when saving a template. In addition, If a template was in memory when entering the labels dialog you would get a crash( noticed on sys 7.1).
- Date format shows the date as displayed by the finder. This was required for system 7.1 Since a user can change the format being displayed. Users of sys 6 & 7.0 will now see the week day added as in the finder.
- Fixed bug when scanning an unformatted disk. It now initializes the disk ( At your request) and scans the disk.
- Fast scan now works if you have an external (or a second internal) floppy drives. Please note I have not tested this but there is no reason why it should not. If you have two floppy drives then let me know if it works or not.
Version 1.6.0(Limited release)
- Fixed problem in labeling section when changing fonts which caused a crash
- fixed problem where some objects did not get printed on the first label.
- Added additional error cheking when scanning disks. It now correctly reports damaged disk( instead of a crash). If you get this error check your disk with Disk First Aid, Norton Utilities or try opening the file.
Version 1.6.1( limited release)
- Corrected some problems of version 1.6 on SE, MacPlus, Classic. Any 68000 proc.
Version 1.6.2(General Release)
- Fixed a bug that limited all scanned disks above 127 to have a serial num of 127.
(Note: if you have version 1.6.0 or 1.6.1 and you have more than 127 disks in the lib
Then check all disks scanned with serial numbers above 128 and delete those
problem disks and rescan them).
Version 1.6.3(General Release)
- FileList area on labels that is not rotated now prints - as it should.
- All other reported bug fixes and features will be considered in future releases
- No errors were reported with the converter application. I find that hard to believe!
